Profile "I am married with a son and daughter and live in Honley, Huddersfield. I started writing about 17 years ago, when I went to a writing workshop in Holmfirth. I now go to a group in Marsden Library, run by poet Jo Haslam and a poetry group in Huddersfield Library, with friends Ann and Nes. We support each other and it is very good to get feedback. I admire Jo's poems and Simon Armitage. I like the understated, but powerful emotion in his writing. Short poems can speak volumes and I think Scottish poet Robert Crawford's quote, "Poetry is the breast milk of English language." is very apt. I spend lots of my time walking our dogs and enjoy reading, music, swimming, cycling and the great outdoors. Nature is a wonderful thing and inspires me to put pen to paper. Thanks to my brother Peter and friend Jean also, for their encouragement. I am dedicating these poems to my Mum, Margaret, who is sadly no longer with us. She found time to pass on her love of poetry and classical music to me, despite having a large family to care for. The first poem "Facing Facts" is about her." Making Tracks is available for £3.00 (including P&P) and all proceeds will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind. Email broadbentanne@hotmail.com to purchase. |
