Profile

"Born in Harrow, Middlesex, I now live in Scotland, a beautiful country that has been the inspiration for a great number of my poems. I began writing poetry at the age of 14. I am not sure why I started however I believe that perhaps poetry allowed me the opportunity to express the host of thoughts and feelings that I was otherwise unable to deal with.

At school studying both English language and literature, I always loved the written word. A favourite book was “Cider with Rosie” by Laurie Lee which I loved for the poetic use of words in his writing. For me poetry is a way of reliving an experience, joyful or sad. Perhaps personal, as much of mine is or from shared experience. Capturing a feeling, time or place forever. It provides permanence to a moment in time, whether simply for reference or as a way of recalling the past. An invaluable added dimension to the memory.

Poetry for me can be both inspirational and therapeutic and hopefully something to be enjoyed by others, each taking what they will from their experience of reading. My style varies as does my mood when writing however for me the gift of poetry writing is one of life's irreplaceable joys."
