Profile "Teaching music in junior schools for over 30 years, I have been involved with many musical activities, from teaching young children to play guitar to writing music and songs for plays which the school children perform. My musical career began at the age of 10 when my parents enrolled me for accordion lessons at a local school; the instrument had made a big impression on me some years before. Through my interest and commitment I made rapid progress and I eventually moved to Germany, and studied at the University for Music and Drama in Hanover. I became interested in poetry due to the close connection between music and verse: Poems by Wordsworth, Auden and Tennyson, to name but a few are so cleverly written and were a great inspiration to me. My first published poem, Hayley's Cometh, is serious in content, as are a number of items in this book. However, due to my sense of humour, I will often write poems which use themes or produce situations that are comical."
