Lynne Bradbury

Profile

"I grew up in Stoke-On-Trent and am now a farmer's wife in the Staffordshire Moorlands. My dad's family were people of the Potteries while my mum grew up in the Welsh valleys where the family, music, the Church and education were their only riches. She left to become a nurse and met the love of her life, my dad. I grew up knowing that I was loved and treasured, and my parents' determination that I would enjoy a secure future was delivered through education. Now a teacher and headteacher I have a passionate belief that every child should have the best possible chance to achieve their dreams.

The powerful poetry of the First World War generated my love of language. Much of my poetry is shaped by my restless social conscience (the 'tigers of my mind') and my belief that I am part of the global responsibility for the suffering or neglect of others. I am a Methodist Local Preacher, Doctor of Education, and Associate of the Royal College of Music. My greatest joy is my wonderful family, and I pray that ultimately the world will unite to ensure that all our children can be treasured and loved."
