Profile

"My husband was my life long sweetheart from 16 years of age and I am diminished since his death in 2008. It has helped me to cope by pursuing my hobbies.

I play the flute in the West Midlands Concert Band and a flute group (Flute Cocktail). I sing with Wombourne and District Choral Society and my church Choir. Once weekly I attend a Keep Fit Class.

I have always read poetry but writing poetry is a new challenge for me. Two years ago I was invited to joint Penn Poets in Wolverhampton. This group has given me immense encouragement and without them, I doubt I would have written any poems and I am still learning this craft.

I enjoy gardening and I belong to the National Trust, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Royal Horticultural Society, Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and The Methodist Music Society.

Before retirement, I was medical secretary to two Consultant Physicians at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust, I met some wonderful people on the staff and remarkable patients who showed considerable bravery and resilience in the face illness. It was a privilege to have met them."
