Profile

"A son of working class parents, a chauffeur and a GPO telephonist, I lived from the ages of 5 to 21 near Highgate Village, London. In 1973, I left the parental home to get married and move to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Here I continued a career in accountancy in both industry and public practice before finally realising the latter was more my metier. I retired aged 61 at the end of September 2009 to embark on a second career, writing poetry and concentrating more effort upon work for the Methodist Church.

I made the switch from numeracy to literacy!

I had always enjoyed amateur dramatics and composing Church services as a lay preacher. In July 2005 I felt my life transformed by the Holy Spirit. At Easter 2006 I began writing poetry, which I hadn't before. Since then I have penned 4,750 poems on a wide range of subjects, some coming out of TV programmes watched, many from novels studied, some from life-changing events, others from simply observing the world around me. As to being influenced by the work of others, W. B. Yeats and William Blake have been salient.

My object in writing poetry is to discover meaning to Life."
