A Novel Idea

If you’ve ever dreamed of writing a successful book – here is your ideal opportunity. Because that is the first prize in this competition.

Your entry could be a novel, a large collection of short stories or poetry, a true life story, a book for children, an autobiography, or a work of non-fiction.

Here’s your chance to have your book published - and receive 250 copies.

The winner’s book will be perfect bound with a full colour cover. It will be edited and tidied by our editors. It will be a book which will stand the test of time and will be a permanent record of your success as a writer. You will be the sole beneficiary from all sales associated with the book (and if you wish we will print you extra copies at no more than £2.99 each per thousand).

The winner will be invited to consult with us over the style, format and presentation of the book. As part of the production process you will be consulted about your choices and preferences which we will undertake to satisfy wherever possible. Our aim is for the winner of this competition to receive a prize of which they will be truly proud. So feel free to add a letter outlining your vision of what you want your book to look like, including (if you wish) your own ideas for a cover illustration. You can set the price for your book and (if you wish), we will give you advice about marketing it. We will also produce and send out a press release with free review copies of the book (which we will provide) to 25 local and national newspapers, magazines and radio stations. This is all part of your prize.

Your entry could be a novel, a large collection of short stories or poetry, a true life story, a book for children, an autobiography, or a work of non-fiction. It could even include illustrations. The choice is yours. And there is no length limit. Your entry can be as short or long as you like, and it can be typed or handwritten. All you have to do is submit your manuscript before the closing date of Friday 28th February 2013.

The entry fee for this competition is £19.99 per entry and you can enter as many of your original works as you like. You cannot submit your entries by email unless you telephone us first and pay by debit/credit card. You can submit your work on disc but you must provide a hard copy with it. Your entry must be written by you alone (it must not have been co-written with anyone else and it must not have been published anywhere else, e.g. newspaper, magazine, book or website etc.). However, we will accept material which has been published separately in other anthologies or which you have published on your own website. This competition is only open to those people who submit their entries with this entry form. We cannot return entries or illustrations so please do not include stamped addressed envelopes or postage and do not send anything which is irreplaceable to you. If you want acknowledgement of your entry please send a stamped addressed postcard which we will send back to you on receipt of your work.

To enter, simply download an entry form here, or request an entry form via our contact page here.
